Marvel Smith Retires; 49ers Beat Dallas

Marvel Smith, the San Francisco 49ers potential starting Right Tackle decided to end his career today. Smith had been battling a bad back this offseason, and the battle proved to be to tough for him to defeat.

Marvel Smith is a native to the Bay Area and was going home in a 49ers uniform. He spent all nine of his NFL seasons with the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers. On the Steelers, Marvel won two Super Bowls.

The 49ers beat the Cowboys today 20-13 at the Cowboys' new stadium. With Alex Smith not able to play due to injury, Nate Davis proved he is too is a quaterback. Playing most of the second half, Davis went 10/15, throwing for 132 yards.

With the victory the 49ers have improved their record to 3-0 this preseason.
